Upon reading the first chapter, I could already get a vibe that this will be an adventure story. Not only an adventure story, it’s like a coming of age one too, with a treatment of mystery. I think that adding mystery with adventure definitely adds more appeal to the story. Linda Jawish’s novel somewhat reminded me of Inferno by Dan Brown and Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare.

You have this young heroine looking for a way to save someone dear to her and everything became even better when the aspect of romance came into the picture. It gives more motivation for the main character to reflect of which of the situations that would definitely define who they are as a character in the world that Linda Jawish had made.

I think that every scene was well thought through. The structure of the novel made the story fast paced and would make any reader glued in their seats and leaf through pages. The way each chapter was closed would make any reader want to know what would happen next. This kind of style reminded me of A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin. I find myself really at the edge of my seat in the later parts of Linda Jawish’s novel.

There are just some points that I want to point out. First, I was not feeing the atmosphere of the story. I would have wanted a more concrete imagery of their surroundings. It would have been much better if some things were not just told but was described to show a clearer picture. There are also some phrases that I found a bit bland, however, I guess that it worked in a way, since this was a fast paced novel.

All in all, I really enjoyed reading it and it deserves 5 stars.
I really enjoyed the book and must admit that the mixture of romance, mystery, curses, and legends creates an unforgettable medieval-ish atmosphere, exciting and mesmerizing.
Two sisters, Hanna and Hilda, had the same nightmare of their mother calling for help after visiting a mysterious cursed palace. Coming back to the palace to save their mother’s soul, they become participants of a very old curse with centuries of history. Your Blood’s Eve has a fast-paced plot which never fails to keep you interested and in constant suspense! The author has done such an outstanding job developing characters. The narrative voice of Katrina is amazing and highly descriptive scenes easily evoke images, submerging you into the course of events to the fullest.
Personally, I liked the theme of Kyle’s and Katrina’s love story. The developing of their feelings was conveyed in such a powerful and magical way!
If you like old legends, wizards, adventures, and mysteries, this book should not be missed! Discover the malicious curse of Tranquility city and the powers of true love on the pages of this incredible read!
